HEALTH UNIONS TO MEET NEW HEALTH MINISTER ON TUESDAY 14 JANUARY
Responding to a request from the new Health Minister, Anne Speed UNISON’s Head of Bargaining and Lead Secretary of the Joint Trade Union Group of Health Unions has agreed to lead a delegation to meet him on Tuesday 14th January .

Today (10th January) UNISON members working across the health and social services system are continuing their strike action over the lack of pay parity with NHS workers in Scotland, England and Wales and on safe staffing levels.
UNISON RESPONDS TO IMPENDING RESTORATION OF GOVERNMENT
Today (10th January) UNISON notes that several parties have confirmed their support for a deal to restore devolved government in Northern Ireland. Responding to this, UNISON Regional Secretary Patricia McKeown said:
“We welcome the fact that several of our political parties have now reached agreement for the restoration of government.
UNISON CALLS FOR RESOLUTION OF DISPUTE ON PAY PARITY
Today (7th January) UNISON has noted the statement from the Chief Executives of the HSC Trusts seeking that unions postpone industrial action scheduled for this week.

UNISON ANNOUNCES HEALTH SERVICE STRIKE ACTION ON 10TH JANUARY
Today (6th January) UNISON, the largest union across the health and social services system, can announce that our members working across the health service will be taking strike action on Friday 10th January. This is a continuation of the industrial action that commenced in November 2019 over the lack of pay parity with NHS workers in Scotland, England and Wales and over unsafe staffing levels.

New Minimum Wage Rates for April 2020 Announced
The UK Government has announced new hourly rates for the National Minimum Wage from April 1st 2020 after consulting the Low Pay Commission:
from £8.21 to £8.72 of those aged 25 and over;
from £7.70 to £8.20 for 21-24 year olds
from £6.15 to £6.45 for 18-20 year olds
from £4.35 to £4.55 for Under 18s
from £3.90 to £4.15 for Apprentices
