NJC Pay Consultation 2022
With the cost of living skyrocketing to new highs every day, it’s no longer enough to state you deserve decent pay for the work you do – you need it.
In June, the trade unions submitted a pay claim demanding a substantial increase of either £2,000 or RPI (whichever is greater) on all spinal column points, from 1 April 2022. The employer’s side have responded with a pay offer for 2022/23 for an increase of £1,925 on all NJC pay points, with effect from 1 April 2022. This amount would be added to every point on the pay scale as a fully consolidated pay increase.
Vote Yes for Action on Pay
After years of declining pay, education and council workers have had enough. It’s time to take action on pay – enough is enough!
That’s why we are asking members working in schools and councils to vote for strike action. If this applies to you, you will receive important voting papers through the post in early December. Every member must post their ballot back by 14 January.
Fair Pay for Education Workers
UNISON members working in schools have played a key part in supporting the education system during very difficult months. After a decade of cuts, it’s time for a decent pay rise.

NJC Pay Offer 2020
In July, UNISON members in education and local government who are on contracted NJC terms and conditions voted to accept the employers' final offer of 2.75%. This was the best that coulld be achieved by negotiation.
The final pay offer includes:
- a 2.75% pay increase;
- a one-day increase in the Green Book minimum level of annual leave. This would represent an increase from 21 days to 22 days per annum and would not impact on the entitlement for those with more than 5 years' service.
- joint work on mental health.
