UNISON Northern Ireland

Fair Pay for Education Workers

UNISON members working in schools have played a key part in supporting the education system during very difficult months. After a decade of cuts, it’s time for a decent pay rise.

You have faced daily risks to support pupils, going above and beyond to keep them safe and to keep communities going, while 25% has been wiped from the value of your pay since 2010.

Now, more than ever, the workers that deliver vital services deserve a decent pay rise. That’s why UNISON is calling for a 10% pay rise for school and council workers like you.

The NJC pay claim was submitted by the trade unions (UNISON, Unite and GMB) representing 1.4 million local government workers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland on Monday 15 February 2021.

UNISON negotiators covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland will join with other unions at an upcoming meeting to press for a decent pay offer for all workers covered by the NJC pay terms and conditions agreement.

The leaflet below raises the call for a 10% pay uplift.
