UNISON Northern Ireland

UNISON Young Members win the best regional campaign at young members weekend with ZERO HOUR TOO FAR

The UNISON National Young Members Weekend took place 12th -14th May in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Northern Ireland region was represented by 10 of our young members including Sinead Liddy who is the chairperson for the National Young Members Forum. This is the 1st year Northern Ireland had 10 young members attend the weekend, seven of which had never attended before.

During the course of the weekend each region Young Members work together to design a campaign on issues that affect Young Members in their own region.

The Northern Ireland Young Members won the best regional campaign for the first time with a campaign entitled Zero Hour Too Far and focused around Zero Hour contracts and the over use of agency workers.

The young members will now build on this campaign and work with the branches in Northern Ireland to roll it out further and report back next year at the Young Members Weekend.

UNISON NI would like to thank the Young Members for their hard work and for representing the region to a high standard over the weekend. We have a great group of Young Members who we hope to see progress through UNISON for years to come.
