UNISON PAYS TRIBUTE TO JOHN HUME

UNISON is saddened to learn of the death of John Hume and we extend our deepest condolences to his wife Pat, and family.   

John was a lifetime supporter of the trade union movement and worked with us over the decades on our campaigns to protect public services, challenge privatisation and promote equality and human rights.

He was held in high regard by UNISON members from all backgrounds.   During Derry City of Culture 2013 John braved his illness to attend our 'In Harmony' concert, as our special guest,  giving many members the opportunity to thank him for his work on peace.  We place that thanks on the record again today.
