UNISON host conference for FGM awareness

UNISON NI's Women's Committee were pleased today to welcome guests and speakers for a conference to raise awareness about FGM along with the Somali Women's Action Network (SWAN).

Speakers included Angie Marriott, a cross cultural diversity consultant with expertise in FGM safeguarding, Paula Bradshaw, MLA for South Belfast who discussed women’s inequalities in Northern Ireland, and FGM survivor Kemi Ajayi, a mental health nurse who spoke about the psychological effects of FGM.

Jean Anderson, founder of the women’s support charity One Woman at a Time, also spoke at the event.
