UNISON HOLDS CONSTRUCTIVE MEETING WITH NEW HEALTH MINISTER ON PAY PARITY

Today (14th January) UNISON has led a delegation of trade unions to meet the new Minister for Health, Robin Swann MLA, to discuss resolution of the ongoing industrial dispute on pay parity and safe staffing levels. Commenting on this meeting, UNISON Head of Bargaining and Representation and lead Trade Union Joint Secretary Anne Speed said:

“We have today had a constructive meeting with the Minister in advance of his address to the Assembly on the industrial dispute.

We have asked the Minister and the Department to confirm details in writing. We will spend some time in further meetings with the Department of Health tomorrow. On Thursday UNISON’s elected representatives in the health service will meet to consider our response.

We genuinely hope that justice for our members and patients alike is imminent. Their courage and tenacity has put the health and wellbeing of the People of Northern Ireland at the heart of a new political agenda.

We remain optimistic that an agreement can be reached and that our dispute can be resolved.”
