UNISON HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS INDUSTRIAL ACTION CONTINUES

Today (26th November) UNISON members across the entire health and social services system will continue industrial action in the fight for pay justice and safe staffing levels.

Commenting on day 2 of the industrial action, UNISON Head of Bargaining and Representation, Anne Speed said:

“Yesterday UNISON members took a firm stand in the fight for pay justice and safe staffing levels. We thank the public for their support for workers on the picket lines.

The bravery that workers have shown in standing up for their health service now has to be matched by those in charge. Today we lay down a challenge to every employer, their Chief Executives and their Boards of Directors.

They should remember that their responsibility is to public that they serve and their workforce. They should join UNISON members in demanding pay parity and safe staffing levels.”

All UNISON members across the entire health and social services system will today continue industrial action short of strike. Categories of staff taking this action will include nursing, ambulance service staff, support services staff, admin, clerical and managerial staff, social services and social care staff, professional and technical staff and all those staff working across the various health services agencies.

Today the following groups of UNISON members will take strike action:

• Northern HSC Trust Drivers at Antrim Area Hospital (main picket at 8am)

• Fleet Drivers at Belfast City Hospital (main picket at 8am)
