UNISON attends ICTU Biennial Delegate Conference

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions held their Biennial Delegate Conference in Dublin this week.

Representatives from UNISON attended the Irish Congress of Trade Union's Biennial Delegate Conference this week in Dublin.

On day one, they spoke on the motion for a return of devolved government in Northern Ireland within an equality and human rights framework and fair employment in the workplace.

 

During day 2 of the conference, UNISON delegates spoke on protecting the rights of workers North and South post-Brexit, climate action and the need for a just transition.

The Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, and former president of Ireland, Mary Robinson, both addressed at the conference.

 

On the final day, representatives from UNISON NI spoke on motions about education and engagement with students, women’s rights and the rise of the far right.
