UK GOVERNMENT ATTACK ON RIGHT TO STRIKE IS A CYNICAL ATTEMPT TO DIVERT PUBLIC ATTENTION FROM ITS OWN FAILURES

Instead of trying to move public attention away from its own failures by attacking workers' rights,  the UK Government should better spend parliamentary time bringing forward comprehensive and enforceable legislation to fully enshrine the human right to health.

Rather than punishing workers for standing up for their rights and seeking to protect public services, the People would be better served by a government which recognises its responsibility for the suffering, distress and death caused to patients by ever growing waiting lists and waiting times.  The People should have the right to sue the Government for its failure.

The root causes of the current industrial action in the health service lie in the Government's failure to properly finance and staff the NHS and consequently the health and social care system in Northern Ireland.

As the 25th anniversary of our Peace Agreement grows near it is time for our own parties to step up to the mark, challenge the UK Government, demand our promised Bill of Rights and protect Devolution.

Anything short of this is a betrayal of the People.
