Further to our message last month, I am writing to send you solidarity greetings for your strike action today on pay justice and staffing levels.
Urgent action is clearly needed to tackle the injustice of pay rates of health workers in Northern Ireland falling so far behind those in the rest of the UK and crucial in helping to boost recruitment to achieve safe, effective and stable staffing levels.
Your fight comes the day after action by health workers across France and other strikes and protests by several of our health affiliates in recent months which have all been about pay, workloads and staffing levels.
All the best for your action which should be boosted by the coordination with our other affiliates – Unite, NIPSA and the RCN. A successful outcome in Northern Ireland will provide a massive boost to all our other member organisations fighting and campaigning for better pay and increase staffing across Europe.
