POLITICIANS PREPARE FOR ELECTIONS, HEALTH WORKERS PREPARE FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION

UNISON members across the Health Service in Northern Ireland launched their call to action displayed on Billboards and at Bus Shelters across the region, urging members to cast their votes in the ballots on industrial action that landed through their letterboxes from the middle of last week.

There are two questions being put to health workers: will you strike and will you take action short of strike in our campaign to secure a fair pay uplift, as given to other NHS workers in England Scotland and Wales.

Candidates from all political parties will be calling to our doors looking for our votes. What will they do for workers here who are the poorest paid in the NHS?

Whether we have a devolved government in place or not, civil servants can act in the public interest and secure the funding from the coffers here and from the coffers in Westminster. Those who want our votes should make sure the funding is available without further delay.
