International Worker’s Memorial Day – Wednesday 28th April 2021

UNISON notes that Wednesday 28th April is International Worker’s Memorial Day. UNISON, together with other trade unions, have called on the observance of a minute’s silence at 11am. We have the full support of the Health Trusts.

Commenting on this, UNISON Regional Organiser, Nuala Conlon, said:

“Worker’s Memorial Day 2021 is like no other, as frontline workers have continued to take unprecedented risks in carrying out their jobs, in particular our membership on the frontline in both the health and education sectors. Heartbreakingly we also know that many workers have already lost their lives. This year, 2021, a minute’s silence will be held at 11am on 28th April. This will be a moment to pay tribute to the sacrifice made of so many workers during the pandemic, to remember those who’ve sadly lost their lives, and to thank all those who continue to do vital work at great risk.”
