UNISON Northern Ireland

International Women's Day 2017

The theme of International Women's Day 2017 is Peace, Solidarity and Sustenance #IWD17NI

Every year we celebrate International Women's Day to mark political, economic, social and cultural gains of women while highlighting the continued fight for equality.

UNISON are proud to support the programme of events celebrating women taking place over the next few weeks. The celebration will start with the Rally this Saturday 4 March at 11am Writers Square, Belfast. The proramme of events can be found HERE

This year in keeping with the theme Professor Angela Y Davis the political activist, scholar and author, who was a prominent figure in the civil rights movement in America, will be speaking at various events.

This celebration helps to assure women that there is continued solidarity in the fight for equality and human rights across the women's movement.

The Royal Victoria Hospital Inez McCormick Women’s Committee are planning an event for International Women’s Day.

They will be holding a women’s wellbeing event in the McAfee lecture Theatre in RJMH 12- 2PM. There will be welfare officers to offer some advice on welfare state benefits and on UNISONs ‘Here For You’ welfare benefits.

Lunch will be provided so make sure you get down there to and support women and empower yourself!
