HEALTH SERVICE WORKERS’ PAY OFFER ‘DERISORY’

Northern Ireland Trade Unions in Health have met today, Thursday 22nd July, to consider the pay offer emanating from the Westminster government of 3% to Agenda for Change staff in the National Health Service in England.

All the Trade Unions expressed their disgust as this derisory offer falls well below the expectations of members who have delivered health services to all during the last very difficult eighteen months.

Trade Unions expressed concern that the statement lacked detail as to whether any pay offer will be fully funded and in particular, whether Northern Ireland will get the full Barnet consequential to fund a pay award in Northern Ireland.

The Trade Unions will be seeking an urgent meeting with the Health Minister and are calling on all Stormont parties to use their influence and authority as a devolved administration to ensure that funding is secured and our members are properly remunerated for the vital service they provide to our community.
