ETUC SENDS SOLIDARITY TO STRIKING WORKERS

The General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation, Esther Lynch, has sent her solidarity to unions taking part in the 48 hour strick action on 21-22 September. Lynch said the strike "underscores the collective determination of these workers to secure fair wages, improved working conditions and a brighter future for themselves and their communities."

Lynch supported our calls for pay parity in Northern Ireland and said "regional inequality is the most acute of any Western European country. The government cannot let Northern Ireland fall further behind. It must act to ensure an upward conversion of workers' pay and conditions and of public services for all."
