Demo supporting The Haven - 23 February 2017

UNISON held a demo at Derry and Strabane Council meeting yesterday due to the ongoing threat to long term funding for Foyle Haven. 

The Haven is a project of De Paul Ireland which provides refuge, support and education to street drinkers.  DePaul has yet to secure long term funding for all the services at the Haven and workers are on protective notice until end of June 2017. If funding is not secured the Haven will have to substantially reduce service provision at the Haven.  UNISON has recognition with DePaul and has had a good working relationship with the organisation and will continue to support the workers.

UNISON will be putting a motion forward at the next council meeting calling for long term funding for the Haven.
