This half day workshop will enable trade union reps to understand the purpose of statements as part of a referral to a regulating body, what should be included, how it should be structured and how the statement relates to the hearing process. Few people will avoid having to make at least one statement in their careers. Whether a witness statement, a clinical incident report or reflective account, drafting an accurate and useful statement is something where acticists can provide invaluable assistance. This session will identify what kind of statements might be useful in varying circumstances, what are the key components, common mistakes and when and where to access expert advice. It will be delivered by Dr Jane Wright who has a background in Nurse Education and currently advises and represents professionals who come to the attention of their professional regulator.
